Independence High School. She attended the University of Iowa,
University of Colorado and the University of Northern Iowa, earning
both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees. She comes to Prairie Hills
with 30 years experience in business, marketing, media, public
relations and teaching related college courses. She has also worked
in long-term care, managed a brand new facility, and was the chief
public relations officer for an Iowa college for eight years.
Barbara has enjoyed exploring the east, west and south
“neighborhoods” at Prairie Hills. “Prairie Hills is a beautiful
place for seniors to live,” says Barbara, “And it has one of the
nicest neighborhoods you could hope to live in.”
At Prairie Hills seniors enjoy a variety of amenities provided by a
caring and educated staff, including delicious, balanced meals,
housekeeping, individual laundry service, a dedicated and trained
staff on duty 24 hours a day, local transportation, a full-time
activity program that encourages wellness and independence, exercise
room, game room with pool table, bird aviary, spa, salon,
old-fashioned ice cream parlor and a library with fireplace.
Respite Care is also available for anyone needing personal care and
amenities on a short-term basis (1-6 months). An attached Memory
Care community is specially designed to ensure residents have a safe
and nurturing environment with daily individualized programming.
Barbara looks forward to meeting seniors who want to enjoy their
life by living independently with all the comforts of home. “You
enjoy life while we do the work!”
